Slough Business Awards launch gets businesses moving.
A launch event for a business awards ceremony took place last week to open up applications for firms to put forward their pitch in an effort to be noticed for their achievements.
The Slough Business Awards 2016 launched last Thursday at the SEGRO headquarters, in Bath Road, and was put together by Enbright Services Limited.
Employees from a variety of local businesses showed up to be treated with speeches from sponsors and organisers, as well as tasting coffee and pastries, and enjoy a dance or two for a charitable cause.
The platinum sponsor of the awards is Heathrow, and the gold sponsors of the events are SEGRO, Eacotts, Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, Slough Borough Council, Santander, East Berkshire College and Goldteam.
The main reason for the Slough Business Awards 2016 event - as highlighted by Rafiq Chohan, managing director of Enbright Services Limited - is to identify the achievements of businesses in Slough, to inspire competitiveness within industries, to promote Slough and the help build better working relationships.
Mr Chohan said: "Last year's event was incredible, we had a brilliant time at the Gala dinner, and we're hoping for much the same and better this year as we continue to grow.
"It's important that businesses are recognised, and they deserve the praise that they get for all that they do for both the people and the town of Slough."
The categories for awards that are up for grabs are Business of the Year, SME Business of the Year, Innovative Business of the Year, Excellence in Skills of the Year, and High Growth Business of the Year.
There are also individual awards to be won and this year's charity partner for the awards is Slough Refugee Support, and Mr Chohan began by making a generous donation of £500 after agreeing that everybody in the room would dance, thanks to a lesson by Anthony Holeksa, dance instructor for Learn To Dance.
Applications are now open, and will close in January 2016, ahead of a Gala Dinner which is to be held on March 17, 2016.
