Redflex: choosing Slough as the location for its new European HQ
Redflex Traffic Systems develops and manufactures digital photo enforcement solutions. In the UK, the company has been working with Highways England on its third generation Highways Agency Digital Enforcement Camera System (HADECS3), which is being installed on a new generation of motorways.
With three further orders from Highways England and an increasing trend towards managed motorways in the UK, the company’s business in the UK is growing strongly. As a result, in 2014/15, Redflex chose to set up its European headquarters in Slough, Berkshire. UKTI supported this investment, providing information on R&D initiatives and programmes, such as tax credits, Patent Box, etc. UKTI introduced Redflex to local professional service firm Harwood Hutton through the TVCC ‘soft-landing’ package as well as to local TVCC networks/industry groups.
UKTI continues to support the company by investigating the potential benefits of the UK R&D tax relief scheme. Using the UK as a springboard to export into Europe, Redflex is also currently speaking with UKTI’s trade advisors.
Simon Pickup, Redflex General Manager (EMEA), commented, “The support we have had and continue to receive from UKTI and their local delivery partner, Thames Valley Chamber, has been excellent. From our initial enquiries in Melbourne through to introductions to the teams in the UK and Thames Valley, we’ve had consistently good, appropriate and seamless support.”
